We were delighted to welcome Mariana back to Brasil and for our prospective students of Fashion to be able listen to her experiences of studying at London College of Fashion, UAL and how she made the breakthrough into the market from her MA studies.
Mariana applied to UAL through the selection process organised by Language Partners back in 2011.
She was successful in being offered a place to study on the one year Graduate Diploma course at LCF, from which she progressed onto the MA Fashion Design Technology course.
She created her eponymous women’s wear label in 2013 and her MA graduate collection was one of the ten selected to represent the college in their London Fashion Week show in February 2014.
Her workshop in Vila Madalena offered students a remarkable first hand insight into just what is needed to successfully launch a Fashion Brand in London. Mariana gave valuable advice on areas such as how to find the right suppliers and network effectively while also talking humorously to our students about some of the struggles and challenges of being a student in London such as finding suitable accommodation and making sure you pay your TV License!
Students were also able to see examples of Mariana’s work and get a feel for the garments she produces.
